EXCITING NEWS! Green Jobs Funding for Indigenous Youth!

I just wanted to let you know about some exciting news regarding the Green Jobs in Green Spaces program offered by Project Learning Tree (PLT) Canada, an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. PLT Canada recognizes that Indigenous youth face unique barriers to achieving their education and career aspirations. We want to help remove as many of those barriers as possible!

Due in part to PLT Canada’s advocacy efforts, we are pleased to announce that Green Jobs funding is now available to support outdoor employment opportunities for ALL Indigenous youth, age 15 to 30! This is a significant advancement from previous requirements that restricted Green Jobs recipients to being actively enrolled students. We hope that under these new guidelines more Indigenous communities and community-owned businesses will be able to help create Green Jobs for local youth!

We encourage you to visit https://pltcanada.org or contact Maria Chiarella, Green Jobs Coordinator (Maria.Chiarella@PLTCanada.org), for more information. This year, PLT Canada’s Green Jobs program is already supporting outdoor employment opportunities for more than 200 Indigenous youth across Canada. With your help, we hope to grow this number even higher!
